cute, but disappointing
we have several other items from this series, but this little "treasure" was anything but. we bought it last weekend planning for a party and had to give it a try. good thing - we couldn't get it to run smoothly - didn't seem to heat well and the motor kept bogging down. tried 3 different types of chocolate: the first ended up being more oil than chocolate until it separated - very gross. cleaned the unit, tried a more expensive chocolate, globbed, but didn't run like a fountain. tried chocolate made specifically for fountains, still no luck. I've spent more buying chocolate trying to get this machine to work than I did on the actual machine. I'm taking it back tomorrow. guess I'll go vintage and pull out my 1970's orange fondue pot.
get what you pay for
Really dinky little thing. Not much room at the base for catching drips. We got this and it ran really slowly. We let it run for half the day. Even after the party was over it was still running really slowly so that it was just a couple trickles down the mushrooms. Not satisfactory. Also be really careful because this is made of cheap plastic and will break very easily. I dropped the main shaft about 1 foot into the sink and one of the stablizer pieces broke off. This is not very powerful at all. the screw turns real slow and the heater does not get very hot at all. If you do get this I think you should put more oil than chocolate in maybe then it will work. *gross* I do not recommend this.
So Much Fun!
Problem: It stopped heating after an hour or so and we had to turn it off. It is not broken, maybe a safety feature???
Works Great
This product works great and cleans easy. Didn't have any problems with it. Really enjoy the retro look to it also.
